Group Financial Model – Develop and maintain an Excel and Access based system to gather group data for planning and forecasting purposes.
This project was initially to provide remote consultancy support for an existing system written entirely in VBA. The system was overly complex and frequently returned incorrect information. Eventually it was decided to rewrite the whole model to make it easier to maintain in-house.
The company business model then changed requiring a more detailed analysis of farm activity down to individual field level. The area being farmed was roughly the size of Holland so there was significant saving to be made on group purchasing. The system was redesigned to gather data in Excel and then export the results to an Access database. Implementation of the system allowed UAI to radically overhaul their group purchasing saving hundreds of thousands of dollars. The complete system is now managed in-house.
